Reiki

Reiki is a powerful but gentle and non-intrusive form of healing that conducts universal life energy to another person or to oneself.

Receiving and swapping healing

Receiving HealingThere is also the opportunity  to receive Reiki at Tollcross Healing Room in Tollcross  community centre on Thursday evenings 6-8:30pm. Basically it is drop-in so all  you have to do is turn up, pay a small donation and wait your turn! It can be  popular so don’t plan a busy evening. A massage therapist is often there too  doing on-site massage. Many of us from ChillOut go there regularly if you want  to have a chat about Reiki or attunements.

Reiki

Pronounced “ray-key”, is a powerful but gentle and non-intrusive form  of healing that conducts universal life energy to another person or to oneself,  healing, relaxing, energising and enabling positive change. HistoryReiki is a very ancient practice, reintroduced by Dr. Mikao Usui in mid  1800’s. Reiki in Japanese means universal Life Force Energy. It is made of two  parts, ‘Rei’— meaning universal, transcendental spirit, and ‘Ki’— meaning energy  or power.

Do I have to be a member of Edinburgh University or ChillOut society to do a course? +

You do not have to be a member of Edinburgh University to join ChillOut Society, but the Student’s Association insists that we charge members a fee. And if we let people go on courses without being members, we wouldn’t have any members! So yes you must be a member of ChillOut. It costs only £3 to join ChillOut society for life (we never remember to re-charge you)!

When is your next course? +

Indian head massage and Reiki courses run according to demand. If you wish to do one, please let us know. As for Swedish massage (Beginner’s/Intermediate massage), please do not email us asking us when our next massage course is.

How do I get a place on the course? +

Once we announce courses on the email list, you can ask for a place using the email address given in the announcement email. Beginner’s massage courses are started in the first few weeks of each semester and Indian Head Massage would be announced a few weeks before it is planned to run (in either semester). Intermediate massage courses are normally announced towards the end of the first beginner’s course of the year (near the end of the first semester).
